Between San Miniato and Montaione (Arno Valley), in the “Buon Riposo” resort, along the “Via Comunale dei Collegalli”, on the hill south of the renown Castle of Barbialla, a refined work of building restoration will bring 6 gorgeous farmhouses of the Tuscan countryside to the past splendour.
The buildings will keep the old names of:These buildings are placed on an area of about 243.000 sq.m. , 38.000 of which belong to these houses and 205.000 are destined to farming.
All the area is part of the “Barbialla” Union that covers about 1600 hectares and is one of the most important and renowned reality of the whole district, which is also well-known because of the “white truffle” of Montaione and the breeding of cows and calves of the “Chianina” breed.
The Barbialla Union carries out also a faunal and hunting activity. This institution has an important part in the rule of the territory and is in charge to control and improve wild animals (such as pheasants, hares, fallow-deer and roe-deer) and to introduce again native species such as the wild boar of Maremma.
The hunting activity is strictly controlled by game selection and restricted admission to the reserve.
The recovery intervention of the antique buildings Boccioleto, Piaggioni, Monacino, Fornace, has been conceived to maintain the original proportion and rooms, showing up the prevailing original finish materials.
These farmhouses have been recovered thinking of them as “homes” and not only as places you quickly pass through without savouring the tranquillity of the Tuscan countryside and its local products.
